Vulture Funds

Wirral Trade Justice held its Annual General Meeting yesterday evening and adopted the following resolution:

“That this Annual General Meeting of Wirral Trade Justice:

notes with dismay the abuse of the UK legal processes by which vulture funds have successfully prosecuted

cases against poor countries;

is encouraged by the frequent condemnation by the Prime Minister and other cabinet ministers of these practices:

endorses the efforts being made by the Jubilee Debt Campaign to encourage the government to introduce

legislation to tackle vulture funds;

requests the government to allocate the necessary legislative time in the coming parliamentary session

to eliminate or at least significantly reduce the legal powers which are being abused by vulture funds.”

I enclose petition forms signed by 31 of our members who were present at last night’s meeting and I should be

grateful if you could give our wishes due weight in framing your recommendations for inclusion in the Queen’s speech.
